Halloween is approaching and your twins need a unique costume to set them apart from everyone else. As twins, there is a unique opportunity for special costumes that no one else can pull off; some may take a little craft effort and others may need explanation, but you’ll certainly be the hit of the party. Keep in mind the temperament of your twins, what they will and won’t wear, their patience level and, of course, their safety; then consider a few of these ideas:
Two Peas In A Pod - This costume works well with twins in a stroller or carriage. Dress twins in green one-piece outfits and hats and tape the letter “P” with masking tape to both their chests. Tie a large piece of green cloth (an old tablecloth works well) to the stroller or carriage, bunching it to a point at the top and bottom and secure with clothespins or rubber bands.
A Pair Of Dice – Dress twins in all white outfits and tape, with double sided tape, a white felt square to both their chests. Glue or tape black dots to the felt square to create the numbers on the dice. If your twins are walking toddlers, add another felt square to their backs.
Jack and Jill – Write the names “Jack” and “Jill” on t-shirts and have your twins carry a pail for water (or treats). Add a broken paper crown to Jack’s head as he broke his crown and a messy hairdo, with added grass clipping or leaves, for Jill as she came tumbling after.
Raggedy Anne and Andy – Create red yarn wigs by gluing strands of yarn into a hat or cap. Add red lipstick for rosy cheeks, eye-liner freckles and “stitches” around the eyes. Anne should wear a white apron over a blue or red dress and red and white stockings. Andy wears short blue pants so his calves show and a button down shirt. Add black shiny shoes for the total affect.
Hugs and Kisses – Very simple and easy for those finicky infant twins. Dress in solid white or light colors adding “X’s” to one outfit and “O’s” to another.
Adam and Eve – Dress twins in flesh tone bodysuits with ivy leaves taped to them. Drape a fake snake around Adam’s neck and have Eve carry an apple.
Pumpkin Pie – Dress one twin in an orange bodysuit and stuff with cotton bunting to resemble a pumpkin. Dress the other twin in a solid color and write the number 3.14925 on the front.
Sick and Tired – Dress twins in pajamas – the dirtier the better. “Sick” should have spots on their face, circles under their eyes a red or raw nose and carry a box of tissues. “Tired” should have dark circles under their eyes and carry a pillow.
Peace and Quiet – One twin should be dressed like a hippie; beads, peace signs, bell-bottom jeans and a headband; while the other twin can be dress like a mime (striped shirts, black pants, suspenders). If possible and tolerable, add white face paint to the mime for the complete package.
And the simplest of all -
Siamese Twins – simply Velcro your twins together!
