Eliminate the hassle of trying to align three different picture frames by attaching and hanging them together.

Sometimes you just have three pictures that go great together and should be stuck together, actually. Whether it’s a picture of each of your kids or three snapshots from your vacation, some pictures simply belong together. Frames that are flat on the sides and fairly wide really can be glued together either horizontally or vertically. You can also glue them together with two frames next to each other on top with the last frame centered on the bottom. Switch positions and glue two together with the third centered on top.

It doesn’t matter how large or small the frames are but certain shapes of frames won’t work. Frames that are diamond shaped can’t be used but ones that are oval can. Oval frames will work well only if you place them side-by-side rather than vertically.

There are other ways to attach the frames together besides gluing them side by side. Align three frames, upside down, to where they are vertical with a 2" gap in between each. Cut a ribbon the length of all three frames plus 4". Glue the ribbon from the top edge of the first frame to the bottom edge of the third frame, leaving the ribbon showing in between the frames. For a showier hanger use a metal loop to thread the ribbon through before attaching to the frames. This method works for most any shaped frames.

You can use something completely out of the ordinary to attach on the front of the three frames to hold them together. A small tree branch, for instance, can be glued across the top of the three frames and another glued across the three bottoms. The tree branch will hold all three of the frames together and give a unique look to the frame. Smaller branches can be glued to the side of the first and third frames, completing the branch framing. For this project you can use long crafting sticks, bamboo or rulers - use your imagination. Thin sticks like skewers can simply be glued to the back of the three frames to hold them together.

Braid three strands of sinew, rope or cord. Align the frames horizontally or vertically. Glue the braid to the sides of the three frames, wrapping it completely around all three. Hot glue makes this method very quick and easy. The frames can be butted together or spaces left in between each one.

Drill holes into the middle of each corner on three flat wooden frames for threading rope or ribbon. After drilling all 12 holes tie a knot in the end of the ribbon and thread it through the top hole of the first frame. The knot should be in back. Thread the ribbon down the front side of the frame and through the bottom hole. Thread the ribbon, from behind, through the second frame. Continue the threading pattern going down the front side of each frame and into the next hole. Thread both sides in this manner, then tie a knot at the ends. Leave a gap between the frames or butt them together.
