Senior year of high school is always such an exciting time. It is a time when you are looking towards the future, towards college, or business school or a job in the real world. To celebrate the end of high school, everyone attends the Senior Prom.

Remembering your senior prom in your scrapbook is an important time. There are special photographs you will want to keep and memories of that night. There are many creative ways you can make a special scrap-booking layout for your prom pages.

Begin by collecting all of your photographs from that night. Decide which photographs are the most important to you. Make notes on a piece of paper and list exactly who is in each photograph. Most scrap booking layouts are one or two pages. Decide if you want to do a two-page layout or a single page layout. You may even decide that you want to do multiple pages in your layout. Selecting your photographs will help you narrow down how many pages your layout will be.

Collect any of your sentimental items from the prom that you might want to include in your scrapbook. These could include the actual invitation to the prom, an invitation to a post prom party, a sample of your dress fabric, a flower from your corsage or napkins or menus from the catering hall that held the prom. You may need to trim any of these items with scissors in order to fit them properly in your scrapbook. But their addition to your scrapbook is priceless. How wonderful it will be to turn to your prom pictures ten years from now and see the flowers from your corsage and part of your prom dress! These will make your memories more precious and memorable when you enjoy your scrapbook in the years to come. They will also make your memories come alive when you share them with others.

Take some time and journal your experiences of the prom night. What did it feel like when you were getting ready for the prom? What did it feel like when your date arrived at your house? What did your friends look like and what did they say to you when you arrived at the prom? What did they serve for refreshments and for prom dinner? What music did the band play and what were some of your favorite songs that night? Use your Journaling to add in written memories where photographs may not tell the whole story. It is impossible to tell from a photograph if the band at the prom was any good. But you can tell us what you thought of them.

Be sure to include creative details that match the theme of the prom. Many proms select a theme such as “Evening Under the Stars” or “Dancing on the Water” or “The Eve of the Millennium”. If your prom had an old fashioned theme, select old-fashioned papers such as lace, or ivory colored papers to create borders for your photographs. If the theme of the prom was more nautical, select papers that are more red, white and blue. If the theme of the prom is futuristic, then select shiny or holographic papers. Have fun with the theme. Use the official prom evening colors in your layout, but also add in some of your own touches.

Use embellishments that match the theme also. If the prom had many flowers, then repeat that theme through your scrapbook. Use flower stickers, or use a punch hole shaped like a flower to create an interesting shape for your scrapbook pages. If the prom had a dance theme, use rubber stamps that feature dancers. You can find rubber stamps that feature dancing feet, or dancing couples. Color them in with colored pencils or markers.

The prom’s fun doesn’t have to end with a single night. You can enjoy the evening for years to come. Create beautiful scrapbook pages that preserve your memories so you can treasure them and share them with those that you love.
