Try these recipes and ideas for making delicious holiday beverages and cocktails for parties and special occasions. Included are ideas for making ordinary drinks extraordinary.

Every successful holiday party begins with tasty and refreshing drinks. Anyone can serve ordinary punch or store-bought refreshments. Make your party one to remember by serving impressive thirst-quenching beverages that are as appealing to the eye as they are to the palate.

Don't serve drinks that have been watered down with ordinary ice cubes. Buy ice cube trays that form special shapes. Fill them with the beverage you will be serving. Drinks will be ice cold, and they won't be watered down when the ice melts. These designer ice cube trays are relatively inexpensive, and they come in a variety of fun shapes and sizes.

Make a delicious and very impressive "tropical" punch. This punch is far from ordinary, and kids as well as adults will love this colorful beverage. It's a fun drink to serve at a summertime holiday party or get-together, but it would be very appropriate to serve at a tropical theme party or a Hawaiian luau.

Freeze various colors of fruit-flavored drink mix in fish-shaped ice cube trays. Make striped fish by freezing various colors one-third at a time. Fill the trays a third of the way full with the first color. Freeze the second layer, and top the fish-shaped cubes with a third layer. Fill a punch bowl with cold blue fruit-flavored punch. Add the frozen tropical cubes to the blue punch. As the "fish" melt, the fruit flavors will blend and make a delicious tropical punch. Refresh the punch by adding additional fish-shaped cubes of ice.

Make cool cocktails even cooler for your party guests. Mix up a batch of your favorite fruity beverage, and keep the drinks cold by freezing maraschino cherries that still have their stems. Place 2 frozen cherries on top of each drink. The cherries will help keep the drinks cold, and they can be eaten as a yummy appetizer.

Treat coffee lovers at your holiday party to a deliciously different cold drink. You will need 8 cups of refrigerated black coffee, 8 cups of chocolate ice cream, 8 cups of milk, whipped cream, a chocolate bar, and ½ cup of granulated sugar.

In a large punch bowl, mix together the sugar and the cold coffee until the sugar is completely dissolved. When you're ready to serve the punch, mix in the milk, and add rounded scoops of chocolate ice cream. Serve this cool and creamy drink in festive coffee mugs. Shave a bar of chocolate to create fancy chocolate curls. Top each mug with a dollop of whipped cream and curls of chocolate.

Make a deliciously refreshing holiday citrus drink by mixing one cup of whole milk, one cup of water, ½ cup of orange breakfast drink mix, ½ cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 10 ice cubes in an electric blender. Top each glass with an orange wedge. Serve the drinks with straws and festive paper umbrellas.

Make fruit slush fancier by topping it with intricate geometrical designs. Your guests will be very impressed by your talent and creativity.

In a small mixing bowl combine ½ cup of sour cream and 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Stir it until the mixture is well-blended and smooth. Put this mixture in a pint-size freezer bag. When you are ready to serve your drinks, cut the very tip off one corner of the freezer bag. Make 2 concentric circles in the middle of each drink. Make impressive designs by running a toothpick through the circles. Wipe off the toothpick each time you run it through the designs. You can make star shapes and beautiful flower patterns using this technique.

Guests with sweet expectations will be thoroughly impressed by these cocktails and unique beverages. Be prepared to share the recipes for creating these clever concoctions and delicious holiday drinks.
