Holistic weight loss would be not just putting everybody on the same program but looking to see what the history of that persons weight, their health history and is there anything that could be tying those two. In other words, what is the underlying cause of their weight problem? Do they have insulin resistance which is a blood sugar imbalance or do they have a problem with their thyroid, do they have any issues going on with their digestion, any food allergies, constipation, or irritable bowel? Are they experiencing any unusual cravings for sweet foods which could have to do either with their blood sugar imbalance or they might have a chronic yeast Candida. Are they under a lot of stress? That could interfere with weight loss or weight maintenance. They may just have a slow basal metabolic rate and that can be caused yo-yo dieting. So people who have been struggling with their weight for most of their life, have lost weight on various diet programs and then gained it back. Each time they gain and lose weight usually what happens is they have less mean body muscle mass and higher amounts of fat tissue. That makes them metabolically challenged. It is harder to lose weight if you have more fat and less lean tissue. If they have exposure to any toxic chemicals like cigarette smoking, if they consume a lot of caffeine, any type of heavy metals, or alcohol all these things can interfere. Hormonal imbalance can interfere. I am going to look of course into their blood work and see if I can determine any nutrient deficiency that might be going on and then sleep. People who have difficulty sleeping and don't get proper sleep often have a very hard time losing weight. So what we want to do is we want try to see if we can pinpoint exactly what is this person's problem and try to work in correcting that problem and that is going to help them lose weight.


Not to mention the wrong type of exercise. So very often people will start exercising and maybe they are doing too much aerobic exercise and not enough strength training, they don't have the right balance.
