Stand at your bedroom door and look in. What is your first impression that you get of your bedroom? Does it give you the impression that it would be a restful place to go and get away from the stress of the world? Is it a place you could go to relieve the stress of a crazy day and have a restful sleep? If not, you may need to make some changes.

Most of us are familiar with the term Feng Shui (“fung schway”) but do you know how to apply it to your bedroom decor? Feng Shui is rapidly become an ideal way to create an environment in which to live and work. To create a home with the flow of energy, your home should have a simple floor plan.

To be sure that you will not lose energy while sleeping, your bedroom should not be too exposed to the outside world. If you are designing a new home, try not to use ceiling to floor windows in your bedroom areas. The more of the outside world you can keep away from your resting place, the better.

Below you will find some Feng Shui decorating ideas that you may want to consider when arranging furniture in your bedroom to help you create a more peaceful room:

•Your headboard should not be flush against the wall. Be sure to leave your headboard seven to nine inches from the wall to allow air and energy to flow around the bed.

•Be sure that the foot of the bed is not facing the door. This lets the energy from the rest of the house in to your bedroom and disturbs a relaxing rest.

•Don’t have any mirrors placed where you can see yourself in them while you are resting in your bed.

•Place plants in the corners of your bedroom if you have any of your furniture placed at an angle in the corner. This prevents dead energy from going to these spots in your room.

•If you have any sharp edges of your furniture facing your sleeping spot, add plants to help soften the edges.

•Always have a clutter free room. Do some serious cleaning of your closets and dressers. You want to make sure that your room is organized and free of messes.

•Do not store anything under your bed.

•Don’t use your bedroom as a home office. This is your space for resting and relaxing - not working. If you have a desk in your bedroom, be sure to separate it from the rest of your room by putting up some type of screen to block it off from the rest of your room.

•Move things around your bedroom until it feels comfortable to you.

Hopefully, after you have made some changes, you will find that you have a nicer place to rest. You will be amazed how different you feel after you have made a few changes.

Once you have your bedroom arranged the way you want it, you may want to consider moving on to the rest of the house.
