Installing a gas range takes several steps, from installing an anti-tip bracket to the actual installation of the range. These steps can be accomplished by the do-it-yourselfer if the instructions are followed carefully. It the do-it-yourselfer does not feel comfortable with this type of installation, it is best to hire a professional to come do it.

To begin the installation, it must be determined if the range requires an anti-tip bracket to be installed. If it does, the anti-tip bracket must be located and secured to the floor. Install the anti-tip bracket flush with the rear wall. After securing the bracket to the floor, slide the range into position and slide the left rear leveling leg into this bracket. This will keep the range from tipping forward.

The next step for installing a gas range is to remove the oven door. There are several warnings to heed when attempting this. Do not try to disengage the hinge catches when the door has been taken off the range. These hinges are spring loaded and releasing them could cause injury. The next warning is do not lift or carry the door by the handle. Now, after being warned, removing the door can continue. Fully open the door and rotate the catch over the retaining arm on each hinge. The oven door is lifted to a 30-degree angle and the door is pulled away from the oven to remove it. After removing the door, remove the kick panel by removing the screw located at the top corner of the kick panel. Lift the panel slightly and pull it forward to remove.

Now move the range closer to the desired location, directly in front of the cabinet cutout, and connect any electrical wiring as per any local codes.

The range is ready for the connection of the gas line after connecting the electricity. Check to make sure the gas is shut off and that the gas shut-off valve has been previously installed on the stub out. Connect the flexible gas connector to the gas shut-off valve and to the pipe fitting at the right rear of the range, being careful not to over tighten the connections and fittings. Do not use any type of Teflon tape or plumbing putty on gas flex line connections. All cook top control valves should be turned off and the gas supply should be turned on to check for any leaks. Check for leaks by using soap and water on all gas connections. If there are no leaks turn the gas supply off to the range at the shut-off valve.

Now the range can be leveled by measuring from the floor to the countertop. After getting the measurement, adjust the leveling legs the appropriate size. The next step is to slide the range into position in the cabinet cutout, with the left rear leveling leg engaging the anti-tip bracket.

To install the burner components, remove the brass burner rings, porcelain burner caps and porcelain gates from the shipping packages. Place each burner ring on the correct burner base, aligning the tabs to they slide into the matching notches. Now set each porcelain burner cap on the correct burner ring. The oven exhaust cover is now placed over the opening in the middle of the top frame. Each grate is placed onto the top frame with the rubber feet positioned in the corresponding dimples.

After the range is in place in with the cabinet, re-install the oven doors by grasping the oven door on opposite sides and aligning the door with the hinges correctly corresponding with the openings in the frame. The door should be held at a 30-degree angle and the hinges slid into the openings until the bottom hinge is fully into the hinge receptacle. Lower the door to fully opened and rotate the two hinge catches toward the oven. Open and close the door completely to make sure it is installed properly. Lastly, peel off the protective plastic layer covering the door panel and the range is ready to use.
