If someone in your house plays tennis you’ve probably got tons of old tennis balls lying around in your garage. Old tennis balls aren’t very good for playing tennis but they can be used for lots of other great things. If you don’t need your tennis balls for any of these household tips you can sell them to people who do.
Dogs love to play with tennis balls. Take your old tennis balls to an animal shelter or give them to your neighbors with dogs. Dogs love to chase and bring back tennis balls and they are the perfect size for their mouths. If you play fetch with your dog using a tennis ball make sure you wear rubber gloves on the receiving end. Tennis balls tend to get slobbery very quickly!
Tennis balls are great for laundering pillows, comforters and heavy coats. Just put a tennis ball or two in the dryer with your heavy filled items and the stuffing will stay fluffy and not get matted.
Tennis balls are great for protecting floors from furniture. Cut holes in some used tennis balls and place them on the feet of chairs and tables and they won’t scratch the floors or make loud scraping noises.
Tennis balls are great massage tools. You can use a tennis ball to give yourself a back massage. Just stand against a wall and place a tennis ball behind your back. By running the tennis ball up and down your back and in a circular motion you can give yourself a great massage. Try the tennis ball massage on your lower back and shoulders too. You can make cute puppets for kids with old tennis balls. Just cut a slit across the lower half of the ball to serve as the puppet’s mouth. Glue on eyes, hair, ears, and anything else you want on your puppet. The puppet’s mouth moves by squeezing the ball on the sides. Kids can have fun making their tennis ball puppets talk to each other.
Make tennis ball poppers! Just cut off the very bottom of a tennis ball. Turn the piece of tennis ball inside out and place it on the table. Before long the tennis ball piece will rapidly pop back to its original shape and fly off the table.
Cobwebs can be impossible to clean from extra high ceilings. Even the longest dusting rods can fall short in today’s contemporary homes. To clean cobwebs from impossible heights just wrap a dust cloth around an old tennis ball and tie with twine.
