To make a wash, boil 4 cups of water, add 4 teaspoons of chopped herb and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. Turn off the heat and let steep for 2 hours. Use this herbal tea as a wash before you retire to bed each night.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is yet another natural ingredient that can be used to make homemade acne medicines. It is especially effective for oily skin because it is not only an astringent that soaks up excess oil, but also serves as a gentle but thorough scrub. Mix two tablespoons of oatmeal with enough warm water to make a paste. Apply this to the affected area and let it rest for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
Citrus
Citrus fruits have long been used to make effective homemade acne medicines. Pound an orange peel with a meat mallet, mix it with a tablespoon of water and apply it directly to the affected places. Lemon juice has also earned renown for reducing pimples. One of the simplest remedies you can use is to squeeze some fresh lemon juice and applying the juice on the problem area 2 to 3 times in a day has been found to be effective in reducing acne. Lime juice can be successfully substituted for lemon juice.
Garlic
Garlic has active compounds that help remove spots and pimples. Raw garlic can simply be rubbed into the problem area several times in a day. This topical application of garlic can be combined with orally taking raw garlic, which help in cleansing the blood of impurities that contribute to acne breakouts. A mixture of coriander juice with a hint of turmeric powder can help relieve the symptoms of acne.
