Easy recipes for making your own deodorants and mouthwash.
Many beauty products can easily be made at home including deodorant and mouthwash.
These types of recipes can be extremely simple and easy to make. Some simply require a new use for a product you are probably already familiar with, while others require the combination of several ingredients.
For example, you can use plain milk of magnesium as a deodorant just by dabbing it on your underarms with a cotton ball.Similarly, alcohol, which is the main ingredient in many deodorants, can also be used by itself as a deodorant, however this can be very drying to the skin. You can also use plain baking soda patted on with a damp wash cloth.
Scented Powder Deodorant 1
1 part baking soda

Add a few drops of an essential oil of your choice to scent the powder.Make sure you mix the powder extremely well so that the oils spread throughout.
To use, sprinkle onto a damp washcloth and pat underarms.
Scented Powder Deodorant 2
3 parts powdered sandalwood
2 parts powdered white oak bark
1 part powdered lavender flowers
Use a grinder (food processor or even a coffee grinder works well) to grind mixture into a very fine powder.Fill bags made from cheesecloth with the powder.Pat bag in under arms to apply.

Cream deodorant
Using less beeswax will make this deodorant more creamy, using more will make it more of a solid that can be poured hot into a soap mold to make a deodorant stick.
This recipe can be made right in your microwave. I recommend having a plastic bowl that you always use when making products with beeswax since it can be difficult to clean it up.
Melt 1 ½ pounds beeswax, add ½ pound (8 ounces) cocoa butter.
Pour in 1 cup coconut oil and blend well.
As mixture begins to cool add 20 drops of tea tree oil along with 20 drops of an essential oil of your choice depending on the scent you want.Pour mixture into jars (if using more beeswax pour into soap molds). You can pour the mixture into separate containers before adding the scented oil in order to make several different scents from one batch.
Rose Deodorant Cream
Melt ½ pound beeswax with ½ pound cocoa butter
And 1 cup glycerine and 1 cup rose water.Add 5 - 10 drops rose oil.Using more beeswax will thicken the mixture so you can make deodorant bars instead.
Parsley Mouthwash
Fill a tea ball with fresh or dried parsley, steep in a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes.Allow to cool.Use as a gargle or mouth rinse.
Mint Mouthwash
Add ¼ cup water with 1 teaspoon baking soda (or salt), add 1 drop peppermint oil and 1 drop tea tree oil.
Plain Baking Soda Mouthwash
An easy recipe for a fresh mouth is to mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and gargle.
Peppermint - Rosemary Mouthwash
Boil 3 ounces of rosemary in 2 cups of water and let set over night.Strain the rosemary reserving the liquid.Add 2 drops of peppermint oil.
Mint Mouthwash 2
You can use simple mint tea bags to make a mouthwash by using twice as many tea bags as you would to make a cup.
Mouthwashes can also be made with aloe vera gel or juice instead of water. To give mouthwashes a longer shelf life, add an ounce of vodka for each 8 ounces of mouthwash made.
