Overview
Trophies are deeply personal mementos of great accomplishments. They can be your children's soccer trophies, old sports memorabilia, debate trophies or awards from work. There are many choices available for housing your trophies. Choices in material, style and even size and cost must be considered. These ideas may help you narrow your selection and make the right choice for the collection of trophies and memorabilia you have.
Recessed Trophy Cases
Recessed trophy cases are built directly into the wall. There are usually a few glass-paned doors that lock and allow access to the shelves with the trophies on them. The advantages of a trophy case like this is that they take up the least amount of space because they are inside the wall. The disadvantage is that this type of trophy case is expensive and requires alterations on your wall for building the case.

Free-Standing Trophy Case
A free-standing trophy case is another great idea for displaying trophies. The advantage is that most free-standing trophy cases are highly mobile--which means you can place and move them according you your tastes. They can be prominently displayed in the center of the room or pushed off to a corner. The disadvantage is that it can be very awkward and has to be included with the rest of your furniture. Therefore, it must be moved to vacuum under and must be positioned so that it doesn't disturb room traffic.

Rotating Glass Display
The rotating glass display trophy case is another great idea. This trophy case allows you to see each trophy even if the case is shoved in a corner. This is accomplished by the rotating glass disks that your trophies stand on. This allows you to turn and display different trophies more prominently, depending on your taste at the time. The disadvantage is that like the free-standing display, this case can take up a lot of space. Also, the display area is smaller and you will have to be more selective with the trophies you display.

Bookcase-Style Trophy Display
A bookcase-style trophy display is perfect if you have an overwhelming amount of trophies and need one location to store and display them. The advantage is that there is enough room for dozens of trophies, and all of them can be displayed beautifully. The disadvantage is that an installation such as this is enormous and will most likely take up a large portion of the wall and room. It also lacks the glass protection, so you will have to regularly dust the trophies.

Considerations
Take into account several considerations when purchasing a trophy case. The two most important factors are cost and space. You must weigh the cost of the trophy case versus how many trophies you have and how important they are in terms of your home or office decoration plans. The same is true for the amount of space they take up. Large displays such as the bookcase-style trophy case should only be used if it's necessary to display many trophies. Game and club halls, as well as schools, are a good idea for larger displays. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.
