Much of the glass was marked with a variety of different logos. The glass that wasn't marked, is a little more difficult. You have to know about Imperial glass. Our society published a three volume set of the Imperial encyclopedias which shows nearly everything that the company made. Glass collectors, when they get into collecting it, they will go out and purchase reference books. There are reference books on a number of Imperial items and patterns. So when you go out to look for glass pieces, whether it's e-bay or an antique show, you get to know your glass. You will know whether it is authentic or a reproduction.

Q: Have you seen any reproduction pieces out there?

There are some reproductions. The primary item that was reproduced was a pattern called Candlewick. Imperial introduced Candlewick in the mid 1930s, and they produced it right up until the time the company closed in 1984. It was probably one of the most sought after work glass patterns in the handmade glass industry. Some of the other companies had some very popular extensive patterns, as well. I am not saying Candlewick was the biggest Imperial glass seller, but it was very popular. Most of our collectors are Candlewick collectors. That's how they got interested in Imperial glass.
