Numbers are related to the compass of course. The degrees on the compass are numbers, and each of the numbers between 0 and 10 have a specific energy that's connected to them.

For example, the number two is related to relationships because it takes two to create a relationship.

The number three is related to community, because anytime you get more than two people together that's when things start to really move.

So each of the numbers on the Bagua have a specific symbolic quality that really goes way back in time, and all cultures have put different kinds of qualities on numbers. Like the number 8, I am writing an article right now on the number 8, because our logo at the International Feng Shui Guild is a double 8.

If you look at the number 8, it is usually on its side. It's thought of as infinity. It's a very powerful number, two times two. So the first number squared is 8, two squared is 8. So, it's been called the great mother. It is related to the Mother Earth Gaya on the Chinese calendar. The Chinese calendar right now is entering an eighth cycle year. This is the eighth era they call it. The 8 is considered one of the most powerful numbers because it is leading to 9. So as we go towards nine, that's the fire element and the highest number between 1, 0 and 10.

So numerology is used by some practitioners, but not at all by others. It just depends on the orientation and the training of the person.
