How to improve self motivation

Achieving your goals and dreams can be as easy as self-motivating yourself. Give these tips a try and see how far you can go.

1.Get organized.Identify your goals and the steps you need to take to achieve these goals.Think realistically about what you want to achieve and what it will take for you to achieve it.Having a reasonable schedule will help keep you motivated because you will be less likely to allow yourself to procrastinate.Make a list of the steps you need to take in order to achieve your goal.Write the date you hope to achieve them by next to each of the steps you have identified.A planner or calendar may also help you get organized.Have the satisfaction of crossing things off your list or calendar as you accomplish them, and know that when every step has been crossed off you will have met your goal.Look at your list to see how far you have come and how far you need to go.

2.Tell people. When you know what you want to accomplish, share your ideas and goals with others who will be supportive. They may have valuable input or advice that will help you meet your goal, but the main reason you should share your goals is so that you will hold yourself more accountable. You will feel an increased need for achievement because you want to live up to others expectations of you, and follow through on doing what you said you would do.You would never let a friend or family member down, and by sharing your goal with them you will be more determined not to let yourself down either.

3.Imagine having achieved your goal.Keep motivated by visualizing your accomplishments.Think about why you want to achieve your goal, how you will feel when you have achieved it, and what it can do for you.Continue striving for your goals and carry the sense of achievement you visualize in the future with you rather than stress. After all, it is only a matter of time before you will have achieved your goal.

4.Focus.Set aside a time when you can remove unnecessary distractions and make progress.Turn off the television, unplug the phone, leave your children with a relative for the afternoon, or otherwise do what you need to do in order to focus your attention on the task at hand. You can achieve much more in a shorter amount of time if you are not spreading yourself to thin.

5.Reward yourself.Try completing a certain amount of work before you allow yourself to watch your favorite television program or take an enjoyable break.Having small additional incentives will help you keep motivated.Taking breaks can help you return to your task with new insight and renewed focus.

6.Don't get discouraged. If things don't proceed as you have planned, don't give up.Re-evaluate your goal and make sure it is realistic.Modify your goal or your plan for achieving it as necessary and continue. Some setbacks are unavoidable, but it is essential to view them as setbacks and not allow them to become the end result of your efforts.Tenacity is a virtue. Many people who have faced a variety of challenges before meeting their goals have found that persistence is rewarded.

7.Celebrate your accomplishments.Take pride in getting closer to your goal, and when you have reached your goal, don't minimalize your efforts.Take credit for your achievements and congratulate yourself.Recognizing that you have been successful will help you continue to be successful in the future.Think about what more you want to achieve and tell yourself, "I can do this!"
