I am not a fan of artificial sweeteners. Our bodies know what sugar is. Sugar has been around since we have been around. Sugar and carbohydrates have been around forever. But, our bodies are designed to use a little bit of sugar and the right kind of carbohydrates. Back then there was nothing like vat of white sugar sitting there. There was a sugarcane plant or sugar beet plant or in an orange when we eat the whole orange. But now we squeeze the juice out of foods and we squeeze the sugar out of foods and we concentrate it and we drink a soda. We drink orange juice or whatever, with concentrated sugar. So, a teaspoon of sugar is 16 calories. My body knows what sugar is. It can use 16 calories. That's not a big deal and it is not going to affect my health probably. Not much if it is going to affect my weight. 16 calories now is not a big deal.


But a soda or a big sweet drink is 300 calories or 200 calories and that's going to affect my weight.



And my energy and blood sugar are going to come crashing down after that soda and I will be tired, lethargic and crave more sugar. So, small amounts are fine and we are not designed for large amounts. As far as the artificial sweeteners go, every time they come out with one, it seems to be that it is safe. And I hope that's true. However, they don't occur in nature and I have a hard time believing that it tastes like sugar but just passes through our body benignly. Nothing happens. The body just doesn't digest it because it doesn't recognize it. I think it can't be good for you if you do any quantity of it over time. So, once in a blue moon, you have diet soda again, no big deal. Having two or three daily and one everyday, is not good and it's not food. Your body does not recognize it as food and I don't think it's good for you. A lot of people have health-related problems because of that.

And artificial sweeteners never help anybody get skinny. If you look around, we are fatter than ever with artificial sweeteners.
