How to Install a Dell Photo Printer 720 for Windows 98

    The Dell Photo Printer 720 is a personal color and black and white ink jet printer. It prints documents, greeting cards, posters, brochures and flyers at up to 13 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 8 ppm in color, with resolutions up to 4800 by 1200 dpi (dots per inch). It is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista. If you are running Windows 98, you will need to upgrade to at least Windows 2000 to install the needed drivers for the Dell Printer 720.
    • Step 1

      Insert the installation CD or download the drivers (see Resources below).
    • Step 2

      Install the drivers following the instructions on the screen.


    • Step 3

      Turn the printer and the computer off.
    • Step 4

      Connect the USB cable to the USB at the rear of the printer.
    • Step 5

      Connect the USB cable to one of the USB ports on your computer.
    • Step 6

      Turn the computer on and wait for your computer to recognize your newly connected printer. If your computer fails to recognize your new printer, consult the link for the Dell 720 Printer manual (see Resources below).

    • Tip: To check which version of Windows you currently have, click the "Start" button in the taskbar, select "run," type "winver" and click "OK." A dialog box will appear that shows your version of Windows.
