    • Step 1

Remove the current ink cartridge by lowering the access door and waiting until the cartridge stops moving.
    • Step 2

Press down on the top of the cartridge and then lift it out of the cartridge cradle. Discard or prepare the cartridge for recycling.

    • Step 3

Remove the new cartridge from the foil wrapping. Carefully pull the clear tape off of the bottom of the cartridge. Slide the cartridge into the cradle, making sure the arrows on top of the cartridge and cradle line up exactly.
    • Step 4

Press the cartridge into place and close the access door.
    • Step 5

Wait for the printer to print a test page and then open the scanner door and lay the page face down in the upper corner of the glass. Scan this paper into the system so that the printer can align itself.
    • Skill: Easy
    • Tip: Many companies offer rebates for recycling your printer cartridges, so before you throw yours away check with a representative of your ink cartridge company to determine if you can capitalize on this offer.
    • Warning:
    • Do not touch the cartridge on the area that the clear plastic tape is used to protect as this could affect your print quality.
