How to Install a Lexmark 2600 Printer

    The Lexmark 2600 is a versatile printer that is suitable for both home and office use. This printer can not only print in black and white and in color, but can also copy, scan and send and receive faxes. Lexmark printers are renowned for their durability and ease of use.
    • Step 1

      Remove all shipping tape and packaging from the printer.
  • Step 2

    Extend the tray where the printed pages will exit the printer by folding the lip of the tray down. The tray is located on the front of the printer.
  • Step 3

    Raise the paper support piece located on the top of the printer. The paper support is the piece that the paper rests against before being fed into the printer.
  • Step 4

    Connect the power cord to the back of the printer and plug the other end of the cord into an electrical wall outlet.
  • Step 5

    Ensure that the printer is receiving power by looking for the power light on the top right-hand side of the printer.


  • Step 6

    Open the top of the printer by lifting up on its front.
  • Step 7

    Install the black ink cartridge by first removing the protective tape from the cartridge and sliding the black ink cartridge into the left cartridge carrier. Close the top of the black ink cartridge carrier.
  • Step 8

    Install the color ink cartridge by first removing the protective tape from the cartridge and sliding the color ink cartridge into the right cartridge carrier. Close the top of the color ink cartridge carrier.
  • Step 9

    Close the top of the printer.
  • Step 10

    Load the printer with paper by resting the paper against the paper support piece identified in step 3.
  • Step 11

    Press the button on the top right of the printer that has a picture of the printer. This button is rectangular in shape. Pressing this button with align the printer cartridges.
  • Step 12

    Install the printer's software by first closing all open programs.
  • Step 13

    Insert the software CD into the computer.
  • Step 14

    Click "Install" from the menu that appears and follow its directions.
