Step 1
Turn on the printer and open the top lid to insert the ink cartridges. Make sure to remove the protective tape that covers the cartridge contacts. Close the lid.

Boot your computer to the desktop and plug the printer cable into a vacant USB port.

Insert the driver CD. A dialog box should appear asking you to insert the software CD that came with the printer.

Click "Continue"; the driver should install. If you don't have the software CD or are running the Microsoft Vista operating system, download the driver from the Lexmark X2470 support page (see Resources).

Step 5
Check the printer installation by printing a test page. Click on "Control Panel>Printers>Properties>Maintenance>Print Test Page."
