How to Install Lexmark X5470 Ink Cartridges

By Nathaniel Miller

  • Overview

The Lexmark X5470 multi-purpose printer is a useful office tool that can perform a variety of jobs in both the workplace and the home office. Send faxes, copy pictures, and print in both color and black and white, all from one work station. However, there is a bit of maintenance that needs to be done on your machine in order to continue printing at such a hi-quality. In most cases, this maintenance will be nothing more than changing the ink cartridge.
    Ready for an ink change.
    • Step 1

Purchase the correct ink cartridge model and type for your printer. The cartridges will have a list of printer models to choose from on the back of the box. Remove the printer cartridge from the box and open the foil wrapper.
    • Step 2

Pull the clear plastic tape off of the back of the cartridge and make sure the printer is on, but not in the middle of a print job. Lift the front cover, the scanner is embedded in this section, and wait for the printer to automatically bring the old cartridges forward.

    • Step 3

Pop the cartridge holder off of the top of the cartridge you are changing nd pull that cartridge out of the printer. Discard the cartridge in the trash or save to recycle later.
    • Step 4

Insert the new cartridge into the holder, snap in place and shut the front cover. Your printer should recognize the new cartridge. Print a test page and you are ready to go.

    • Tip: Recycling cartridges is good for the environment and could save you money as some companies will offer rebates or percentage off future cartridges in exchange for recycled cartridges.
    • Warning:
    • Be careful to not touch the tarnish the film on the bottom of the ink cartridge after you pull the tape off, as this is the surface at which the printer contacts the ink cartridge.
