How to Install a Lexmark Z35 Printer

By Alan Donahue

  • Overview

Installing printers can be a hassle, and many times it may be easier to just handwrite the information before you can actually print it. Luckily, owners of the Lexmark Z35 have an easy installation as long as they follow these step-by-step directions.
    • Step 1

Make sure that you have received everything necessary to hook the printer up. Included in the box should be the printer, 2 print cartridges, a power supply cord and the power supply box. The printer will also include an installation CD.
    • Step 2

Purchase a USB printer cable. Printers commonly do not come packaged with this cable, which is necessary in order to have a connection to your computer. Most printer retailers will inform you of this before your purchase.

    • Step 3

Insert the power supply into the back of the printer. Plug the power cord into the power supply and a working outlet. Press the "Power" button on your printer to test it. If lights come on, then the printer should be functioning normally.
    • Step 4

Plug the square end of the USB cable into the back of the printer. Attach the rectangle end of the USB cable to an open USB port located on your computer. At this point, your computer may automatically recognize the printer and install it.
    • Step 5

Insert the installation CD to install the proper drivers and software associated with this printer. Follow the on-screen prompts and the printer should be installed in less than 5 minutes.
    • Step 6

Open the printer cartridges and peel off the film covering the gold sections of the cartridges. Lift open the front of the printer and find the two cartridge holders. Insert the color cartridge into the left bay and the black cartridge into the right bay. Close the cover and let the printer process the contents.
    • Step 7

Print a test page by printing any document or picture you wish. The printer should automatically be assigned as your default printer, but if it does not, then go into the "Printer Properties," right-click on "Lexmark Z35" and click "Default Printer."
    • Skill: Easy
    • Ingredients:
    • USB printer cable
    • Tip: The Lexmark Z35 can hold up to 100 sheets of paper; do not over-fill it or it may cause a jam.
