How to Install a Lexmark Z715 Printer

    The Lexmark Z715 inkjet printer is part of the Z700 series and possesses features geared towards digital photographers who wish to generate photo-quality prints of their work. It is capable of printing at resolutions up to 4800 x 1200 dpi on a variety of media, including photo paper, banners, envelopes and index cards. It prints documents at a rate of 17 monochrome or 10 color pages per minute, and can print borderless documents that fill the entire page. You will be able to install your Lexmark Z715 printer in a matter of minutes.

    • Step 1

      Turn on your computer. Install the printer software from your installation CD; if CD is unavailable, download software directly from manufacturer's website (see Resources section). Follow the onscreen directions and turn off your computer once operations are complete.

    • Step 2

      Locate the power supply connector on the rear of the printer. Insert one end of power cord into power supply connector; plug the other end into an electrical outlet.

    • Step 3

      Locate the USB cable connector on the rear of the printer, below the power supply connector. Insert one end of the USB cable into USB cable connector; connect the other end to your computer.

    • Step 4

      Turn on your printer and lift the front cover. The print cartridge holder will move into view. Insert ink cartridges into the appropriate slots on the print cartridge holder (color ink goes on the left, black ink goes on the right). Push the tops of the cartridges backwards until they snap into place. Lower the front cover.

    • Step 5

      Load paper into the printer. Align paper with the right side of the print tray. Slide the paper guide to the right until it is flush with the left side of the paper.

    • Step 6

      Turn on your computer. Open the Lexmark Solution Center program. Click on "Maintenance" then click on "Install a New Print Cartridge." Follow the onscreen instructions and click "OK." Click on "Align to Fix the Blurry Edges." Click "Print" and follow the onscreen instructions. Click "OK." At this point, your printer is ready for operation.

    • Tip: If your computer does not acknowledge your printer after installation, confirm that the USB cable is firmly in place.
    • Warning:
    • The Lexmark Z715 does not come with a USB cable; you will have to provide your own.
    • Plug your Lexmark Z715 directly into your computer; avoid connecting the printer via peripherals, such as a USB hub.
    • Before installation, remove all tape from the ink cartridges. Always hold the cartridges by the sides, so as to avoid touching the copper contacts.
    • Do not overfill the paper tray; the Lexmark Z715 has a maximum capacity of 100 pages
