Step 1
Turn on your computer. Install the printer software from your installation CD; if CD is unavailable, download software directly from manufacturer's website (see Resources section). Follow the onscreen directions and turn off your computer once operations are complete.

Locate the power supply connector on the rear of the printer. Insert one end of power cord into power supply connector; plug the other end into an electrical outlet.

Locate the USB cable connector on the rear of the printer, below the power supply connector. Insert one end of the USB cable into USB cable connector; connect the other end to your computer.

Turn on your printer and lift the front cover. The print cartridge holder will move into view. Insert ink cartridges into the appropriate slots on the print cartridge holder (color ink goes on the left, black ink goes on the right). Push the tops of the cartridges backwards until they snap into place. Lower the front cover.

Load paper into the printer. Align paper with the right side of the print tray. Slide the paper guide to the right until it is flush with the left side of the paper.

Turn on your computer. Open the Lexmark Solution Center program. Click on "Maintenance" then click on "Install a New Print Cartridge." Follow the onscreen instructions and click "OK." Click on "Align to Fix the Blurry Edges." Click "Print" and follow the onscreen instructions. Click "OK." At this point, your printer is ready for operation.
