The first thing I have to do is go out and visit the homeowner and educate them on sun rooms. Not everyone, believe it or not, qualifies for a sun room for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons being the topography of the soil, the foundation or if the home has a highly irregular structure, that can make a difference between someone being able to utilize that space for a sun room or not. Also common sense things like you can't do a bedroom sun room, you have to extend it out and then enclose it and cap it. I personally will do a solarium, a curved glass room but I will only do a partial solarium because I would like to use a roof that is solid or prefabricated type material on the top as much as possible and then just have the bubble out of the curve. The reason being is because the extreme temperature differential. Then you choose your panel material. For instance Structall has a three inch panel which is insulated. There is anodized aluminum which cuts out about 65-70% of the UV RV rays of the sun. Then you would do the bubble out of the curved glass and then from there that glass would need to be titanium or low E glass which will cut out 65-70% of the UV/RV rays of the sun. Then you would recommend usually some type of AC heating system.
