Installing a Lexmark X1000 Printer

By Ryan Bauer

  • Overview

Installing the Lexmark X1000 is a relatively easy process. All that is required is the ability to plug it into the power outlet, hook it up to the computer, install the software off of the included CD, and turn the printer on. From that point, you will be able to print, scan documents, and make copies right from your PC. The Lexmark X1000 comes with everything you need to get started, including the USB cable to connect it to the computer and the power cable that connects it to the wall outlet.
    • Step 1

Insert the USB cable into the back of the computer. Snake it around any obstacles, and plug the other end into the printer. Plug the printer into a receptacle. Make sure all of the cords and cables are secured and place the printer on a stable, level surface.
    • Step 2

Insert the installation disk into the computer's CD drive. Lexmark's autorun feature should automatically bring up the installation guide that will walk you through the setup process. Follow each of the guide's instructions, and within 5 minutes your printer will be installed. Following the Wizard's prompts, turn your printer on, and the computer will recognize it has been connected. It is now fully functional and is ready to be used.

    • Step 3

Make sure the X1000 printer you just installed works without any errors by printing a test page. The installation process will ask you if you want to print one. Simply answer "Yes" and it will print a preformatted text document that tests both the color, and the black and white performance of the printer. Alternatively, you can test the printer by printing a document or image of your own.
