Step 1
Connect the printer to the computer using a normal printer USB cable. Plug the printer's AC adapter into the wall outlet for power. If the printer is new, there may be a layer of protective film over various parts of it, so inspect it to see if any of these need to be peeled off. Some of this film could possibly interfere with the printing process if it is not removed.

Step 2
Place the installation disk into the computer's CD-ROM drive and gently close the tray. Be patient; it may take up to 1 minute, but the computer will automatically bring up the installer. You will have to answer several questions along the way, and it will install the printer for you. Toward the end of the installation, you will be asked to turn the printer on. At this point, your operating system will be allowed to recognize the printer, and the drivers will now be installed for it to configure.

Step 3
Make sure the printer was successfully installed by clicking "Start," then "Printers and Faxes." The window should now show a Lexmark Z645 installed on your computer. To make sure it works, print any document and select the newly installed printer from the drop-down box you are presented with. Consult your owner's manual if there are any problems with the operation of the printer.
