There are autograph collectors, memorabilia collectors; game used material collectors and card collectors. There are really four areas of sports collectibles where collectors tend to gravitate. Most people tend to pick one area to do most of their collecting.

Game used material includes items like game used bats, helmets, jerseys, home run balls for example. Items that sell are things like Willy McCuvey's first home run baseball or a home run baseball hit by Hank Aaron or Babe Ruth's first home run ball of the 1928 season. We also get balls that were caught by a fan and they had it signed and dated. Anything like that qualifies under game used materials.

Then there are autographs which is a very broad field. A lot of collectors just concentrate on that discipline. There are autographed game programs, autograph single signed baseballs, even team signed baseballs or team signed footballs. A lot of people collect autographed 8 x 10 photographs, too. A lot of collectors start with some of the newer guys that they know and see on T.V and are very familiar with. Then, as they start collecting, they get more interested in the history of the game and work their way backwards a little bit.
