The first thing you are going to notice is that your grass has kind of a dry look to it. It's going to have a pale color and if you don't water it as soon as you see the paleness, it will actually get crispy and then it will turn brown and pretty much look like brown patches in your yard, almost like a disease has gotten to it. The bad thing about the fertilizer burn is that if you burn your sod bad enough and kill it, it could take months and months for it to fill back in. We may have to go out and do some patch work and fight the weeds, because when you lose the patch of grass, the weeds tend to come in and try to take over. The directions on the bags are there for a reason, and it's really important to read those directions and to follow them. More fertilizer, more spray- more is not better in the case of insecticides, fertilizers, and pesticides. So, you want to follow them to the T, and you don't want to go less than what it requires either. If you put less than what it requires, especially on the pesticide or insecticides, it may not be effective. So, you want to try and follow the directions on the label as close as you possibly can.
