I will go back to my earlier point, it's what you're going to be able to do. There are millions of diets out there. Some people have great luck with a low carbohydrate diet. Some people have great luck just counting calories. When they hit whatever calorie limit they have for themselves, let's say 1500 calories or 1800 calories, they're done.
I think throughout the United States all of us need to decrease the amount that we eat by portion size, not necessarily what we eat. A small piece of chocolate is not going to do any damage but a whole candy bar could. So we really need to decrease the amount that we're eating at each meal. And we need to remember that if you don't eat breakfast or you go hours and hours without eating your body goes into starvation mode and everything you put into your body goes into storage because it doesn't know when it's going to eat again. So, eating regularly, say breakfast between 8:00 and 8:30 or lunch between 12:00 and 1:00 everyday, and having a snack in between breakfast, lunch, and dinner such as an apple or piece of cheese and crackers makes a huge difference in keeping your metabolism up and then your body is more willing to burn fat.
I think that staying away from anything white - white flour, white sugar, potatoes - is very important because all that turns into sugar in our body and then we store it as fat.
