It depends, but you can always buy your chest separately. The fine stainless is just your open stock. It doesn't come with a chest. The better box sets usually provide you with a wooden caddy. You can take it and put it in your drawer with the flatware, so there is a safe place for it.
The chest, depending on the level of quality, should last as long as your stainless does.
There are tons of wood, plastic, metal, and metal wire chests. Plastic and wood probably last the longest. If you wanted to clean it, depending on the level of wood, we have one that we make that I use myself. It's been in my drawer for 8 years now.
