I recommend instead of using oil-based thinners and oil-based paints, use water-based paints for ecology reasons. So, the trend is to go to that unless you are doing metals and stuff like that. There are acrylic paints for metal, but the oil-based paints are still a little bit better if they are being applied on metal. On any other type of material, painters are going to use acrylics, water-based paints. The finishes can be in a flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, or high-gloss color. The paints are getting better with technology. They are just like everything else. They are a little bit more expensive than oil-based paints, but I recommend that people use those kinds of paints.
