A list of the best Las Vegas drive-thru wedding chapels.
Many opt to marry in this exciting city because it is relatively simple to do so. There is no blood test required and no waiting period. A marriage license must be issued there but can be obtained on the day of the wedding. A photo ID is needed. The minimum age requirement without parental consent is 18.
Also high on the list is the drive-thru wedding. This type of event gives new meaning to the phrase "taking a ride down Lovers Lane".
The concept of the drive-thru wedding was born in 1991. It was then that a compassionate chapel owner/minister, Charolette Richards, watched a disabled couple struggle to get out of their car and into the building. The next day she decided to have her son knock down a wall and install a drive-thru type window. This window was officially opened on Valentine's Day and quickly became a huge hit. Today, the "Tunnel of Vows" as it is now called is an expanded version of the original idea. A high ceiling which has been embellished with starlights and cherubs adds an extra touch of romance to every ceremony.
Ms. Richards offers a variety of wedding packages to couples who visit her establishment. Everything from a basic package where the bride and groom are married in their own vehicle to a "Cherubs' Chariot Wedding Package". Included in this deluxe package is the ceremony, 12 wedding photos, a long stemmed rose, bride's garter and courtesy limousine. (Also available is a "Bikers Special". On-site motorcycle rentals are provided for couples who do not arrive on a bike of their own.)
There are also a number of limousine drive-thru services which pick up the future bride, groom and any wedding party members from their hotel and drive them to the chapel. After the ceremony the group is then taken on a 2 hour limousine tour through the streets of Las Vegas. See the bright lights of the strip and feel the excitement in the air, on that special day.
Some drive-thru wedding chapels offer a number of extra "a la cart" wedding items that can be purchased separately or added to a package. Items such as t-shirts, coffee mugs, bumper stickers, wedding videos, post cards, champagne flutes, and much more.
Many chapels provide tux and gown rentals and have even gone into the jewelry business. These services are offered to take advantage of the large number of spur-of-the-moment weddings that are held in Las Vegas each year.
