Overview
As more printers are used to produce a wide variety of colorful and complex media for home, work or school, households often have to replace ink cartridges several times a year. Instead of purchasing expensive new printer cartridges every time your ink levels get low, it is easier and more convenient to simply refill the ink. By recycling your cartridge, you also help the environment by producing less plastic waste. Here is a step-by-step guide to refilling both the black 28A and the color 29A cartridges for your Lexmark printer.
Conveniently refill your Lexmark ink cartridge -
Refilling Lexmark Ink Cartridge 28A
Step 1
Remove the empty Lexmark black 28A cartridge from the printer and place it on the paper towels.
Step 2
Drill a small hole on the bottom surface of the cartridge top. Make sure you drill at least 1/3 away from the edge.
Step 3
Fill the syringe bottle with 12 ml of ink and completely insert the needle into the hole you just drilled.
Step 4
Make sure the syringe needle reaches the bottom of the cartridge and then slowly inject the ink.
Step 5
You do not need to reseal the hole. Set the cartridge above the paper towels for several hours and allow any excess ink to drip out. The paper towels and cartridge should not be touching each other.
Step 6
Insert the refilled Lexmark 28A cartridge back into the printer.
Refilling Lexmark Ink Cartridge 29A
-
Step 1
Remove the empty color 29A cartridge from your Lexmark printer. Set it on top of paper towels. -
Step 2
Insert the tip of the sharp knife under the top in several places. Use the knife to pry off the plastic top from the rest of the cartridge. -
Step 3
Insert the unbent paper clip or pin into the holes on the cartridge. Determine which color belongs to each hole. -
Step 4
Fill the syringe with 5 ml of ink. Insert the syringe into the hole that corresponds to the ink color. Slowly inject the ink until the inside sponge is filled. -
Step 5
Repeat step 4 with the remaining ink colors, using a new syringe with each color. -
Step 6
Place the cartridge top back on and seal with tape. -
Step 7
Leave the cartridge above the paper towel for several hours to allow for dripping. Do not let the paper towels and cartridge touch. -
Step 8
Restore the refilled Lexmark color 29A cartridge back into your printer.
