There are some similarities; but it is different. The way I would define the distinction is, that a coach does not work with somebody who has psychological disorders, and if they do they are working in partnership with the therapist. So you don't hire a coach to deal with clinical depression or bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Coaches do not deal with any psychological condition; that is a counselor or the therapist's job. Another distinction I think is that coaching has the focus of actually creating something specifically in the world. Most of my clients have a business focus. Not so much of life coaching purpose, but somewhat of a business strategy focus. So when I am working with people we are talking about creating something specifically in the world and that is not generally the case for the counselor. You know generally with the counselor it's dealing with the entire inside issues like how do I you know how I am relating to myself inside and my interpersonal relationship.
