Weddings can be such a wonderful time for couples. With all the planning and activities that go into a planning a wedding children can sometimes feel a little left out. Planning some fun wedding themed crafts can make children feel that they are really part of the big day.
There are numerous simple wedding favors you can help children make. Chocolate Lollipops would be a very simple idea. You will need to purchase molds, sticks, candy melts and ribbons, all of which can be easily found at craft stores like Michael’s or online. In a microwave safe container you will want to melt one package of candy melts at 30%power (usually the defrost setting). You will want to keep micro waving the melts at 30 second intervals until you have a nice smooth candy. You will need to do this with each color you use.
To fill the mold you will want to use a small spoon (such as a baby spoon) to fill in the mold. If you are making a lollipop with different colors place the mold into the refrigerator for about a minute for the chocolate to harden before you start the next color. Once you fill the mold tap it slightly to remove any air bubbles that may have formed. You will then want to place the stick into the place allotted and turn it slightly to make sure it is totally covered.
The mold should then be placed in the refrigerator to cool but be sure not to leave the pops in the refrigerator for too long otherwise you will see cracking in the candies surface. To unmold the candy simply turn over your mold and tap one side against a table the candy should slide out easily. Birds nest favors are another idea for edible wedding favors kids can put together. Wire birds nests can be found at most crafts stores and children can place chocolate covered nuts or some other treat of your choosing in the nests and then attach a name card to each nest.
Decorated wedding votives are a simple project and can be made to be either fun or very elegant decoration for your wedding. All you need for this project is votive candles and candle holders, ribbon .Tie the ribbon however you choose around the votive holders and then put the candles in and your project is complete. Mint favor bags are a simple and affordable project. Simply have the kids put pillow mints in a sheer bag and tie together with a pretty ribbon. You could also replace the mints with nice smelling potpourri to make sachet favors.
For something different you could have the children make message in a bottle favors. Print either a special message to your guests or perhaps the name of the bride and groom and date of the wedding. First add some decorative sand and some small sea shells then the slip of paper. Decorate the outside of the bottle with raffia. You can also get some small picture frames and have the kids decorate them with ribbon, flowers and maybe some glitter. Whatever you choose it will be a great way to let the younger members in your family be a part of you big day.
