Weddings: 10 unique groomsmen's gifts

It is traditional to give the members of your wedding party gifts of appreciation, and the groomsmen are often the hardest to buy for.

1. PERSONALIZED SHOT GLASSES

Shot glasses come in an array of styles and sizes. If your groomsmen have long been your drinking buddies (maybe some college roommates), then shot glasses can be a fun gift that they will be able to put to use at the bachelor party. There are many engraving options for the shot glasses too. You could simply put their names on each glass, or their initials, or you could have "groomsman" written on them. You could also make each glass unique by engraving words of significance to your relationship with each guy. To add a little something extra, you could give each groomsman a miniature bottle of liquor, matches, golf pins, or a monogrammed handkerchief. If you decide to give the groomsmen their gifts at the bachelor party, then you could surprise them by filling each glass with a shot of something (whatever your drink preference), and presenting them on a tray for each of them to take a celebratory shot with.

2. OF THE MONTH CLUB MEMBERSHIPS

There are so many "Of the Month" Clubs to choose from. You could get gourmet coffees, having a new flavor sent every month. You could get the classic fruit of the month club, which varies from monthly assorted fruit baskets to exotic fruits of the month, such as papayas or star fruits. You could get chocolate of the month club memberships, where new gourmet chocolate treats are sent out each month. You could even get wine of the month, where a different wine is sent each month. Your choice should be reflective of the tastes of your groomsmen. In fact, you could simply go with the "of the month" theme, but get different clubs for each guy. This is a great gift because it is something that they can enjoy for a whole year (or six months, which some clubs offer). Each month when they get their gift, they will think of you and of your wedding. It's a great way to show your groomsmen your thanks.

3. WEDDING MOVIES

Let's face it: most men do not care about cute little keepsakes. That's why movies make a great gift for guys. To keep it in the wedding-spirit, buy them some wedding-related movies. Bride of Chucky is a horror wedding movie that usually feels more like a comedy. American Wedding, part three of the American Pie series, is a hilarious wedding movie with some gross-out humor that guys love. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is another great comedy choice, and so is The Wedding Singer, which stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

4. CHARITABLE DONATIONS

You can make charitable donations in the names of each of your groomsmen to the charity of your choice. This is a great gift because it isn't at all wasteful. Plus, it is perfect for guys who are good-hearted but hard to shop for.

5. BOWLING BALLS

If your groomsmen are bowling fans, or even if you guys just get together for bowling a few times a year, personalized bowling balls are a great choice for the groomsmen gifts. You can either shop online, at a sporting goods store, or at most bowling alleys. Personalize the balls with either their names or “groomsman.” You could also get bowling ball bags to put the balls in, which you can also personalize.

6. WEEKEND GETAWAY

If you have the funds, you can take your groomsmen on a mini vacation to show them your gratitude for being part of your wedding party. Schedule the trip for at least two weeks before the wedding… you don’t want to leave your harried bride behind with the last minute details a week before your big day! Go to a place that you think will appeal to the group you are with, maybe a golf resort, a trip to New York City, a gambling weekend in Vegas, or a quiet retreat to a cabin in the woods.

7. GUY GIFT CERTIFICATES

Give your groomsmen a book of gift certificates to the stores they love. You could buy gift certificates to a bookstore, sporting goods store, video or music store, or even a grocery store. You could also get movie or concert tickets. They will be thrilled with your choices. For unique packaging, put all of the certificates inside a new wallet for each guy.

8. GADGETS

Guys seem to really love gadgets and fun electronics. Palm pilots are somewhat pricey, but if you can afford them, they make an awesome gift for your groomsmen. Other gadget ideas include electric staplers, digital cameras, key locators, and XM radios.

9. GROOMSMAN SHIRTS

It is lots of fun to get personalized shirts for your groomsmen to wear at the bachelor party. Have their names printed on the front of a t-shirt, and “groomsman” printed on the back. You could also get sweatshirts, hats, visors, or even socks to match. After the wedding is over, it will be a great shirt for them to kick around the house in.

10. SUN GLASSES

Sunglasses are especially great for a summer wedding. Make sure they all bring them to the wedding (and get a pair for yourself) so that you can have your photographer get a shot of everyone in their shades. It makes for a great picture, and sunglasses are a gift that can certainly be used after the wedding festivities are over.
