Headaches hit different people in different ways. Some people feel it at the temples, some behind the eyes, and some feel it all over. One thing everyone will agree upon when it comes to headaches is that they need to go away and quickly. Some people have preferred brands of aspirin or other headache relief products and are cautious of taking something new and different. If you've never tried headache powders and they're available in your area try a pack to see how they work on your next headache.

Headache powders aren’t exactly new but they are definitely different. Although they aren’t available in all parts of the world, or even the country, they have been around for years. Aspirin and acetaminophine are common over-the-counter headache relief products. Caffeine is another product which has been known to help with the riddance of headaches. Powders combine all aspirin, acetaminophine and caffeine to kick headaches fast.

Powders are unique because not only do they combine the strength of three known headache relievers but they act quickly because they dissolve quickly. The most common headache powders feature 260mg of acetaminophine, 520mg of aspirin and 32.5mg of caffeine.

The powders are not recommended for children or teens suffering from flu or colds since there is a threat of Reye’s Syndrome, a dangerous illness can occur. For simple headaches or migraines the powders are recommended for anyone over the age of 12. Headache powders are fine for adults suffering from aches and pains due to colds or flu.

The powders are in a waxed paper pouch. To take one open the pouch and sprinkle the entire contents under the tongue. Quickly take a large drink of a liquid such as soda or tea. Swish only enough to get the powders down then take a few more large drinks. The powders do not have a pleasant taste so it’s important not to pour them directly onto the tongue and taste buds. Drinking water with them will usually leave an unpleasant aftertaste. Some people pour the powders into a small bit of juice and drink but it’s necessary to refill the glass and drink it as well to prevent the powder residue from sticking to the glass rather than being ingested. To take two powders it’s much easier to put them together than to take them separately. Pour one pouch into the other then pour them under the tongue.

Headache powders not only relieve headaches and toothaches, they also reduce fever and give relief to aching joints and muscles. For minor pain take one powder; for stronger pain take two. If you consume more than 3 alcoholic beverages in a day talk to your physician before taking headache powders. With acetaminophine or aspirin there is a slight chance of liver or stomach problems. Pregnant or nursing mothers should check with their physicians before taking headache powders and should avoid them specifically in the final 2 months of pregnancy.

Some people are unable to take headache powders. Stop taking immediately if you have ringing in the ears, loss of hearing, rash or vomiting immediately after taking the powders.
