Invitation wording samples and tips: how to word a rehearsal dinner invitation

The day before a wedding, the couple (or parents of the bride or groom) hosts a wedding rehearsal, usually followed by a rehearsal dinner. At the wedding rehearsal, the couple and all guests who are part of the wedding party, including the religious officiant (if there is one), the bridesmaids, the groomsmen and both sets of parents of the bride and groom, rehearse the actual wedding ceremony. After the rehearsal, the couple usually hosts a dinner and invites all those in the wedding party, as well as their significant others and children. The rehearsal dinner is not only a time for the wedding party to relax and unwind before the big day; it is also a time for the couple to thank their wedding party and extend their gratitude with words or gifts. In order to provide the wedding party with a map of the wedding rehearsal location and dinner site, as well as time, it is customary to send out a rehearsal dinner invitation at least two weeks in advance. Here are some samples of wording you may want to use.

It is customary to note who is hosting the rehearsal dinner. For example, in the wording above, the couple, themselves, are hosting the dinner. However, sometimes the parents of the bride or parents of the groom will host the dinner, so be sure to note that on the invitation.
