Mens health tips for their twenties

Men in their twneties have to be responsible for their health and wellness to build a healthy foundation for their future.

It is important for men in their twenties to take care of themselves and to make their health a priority. The earlier healthy behaviors and habits are formed, the better. On the other hand, if bad habits are learned in your twenties, it’s going to be hard to break them later on in life. Here’s some health advice for men in their twenties:

BUTT OUT

If you are a smoker, it’s time to become a non-smoker. You know that smoking is absolutely horrible for your health. You know that you can wind up with heart problems, cancers, emphysema, and other debilitating conditions as a result of your nasty little habit. Well, man up! You can quit smoking; anyone can. It’s not easy, but it’s vitally important, and it will dramatically improve your health and wellness now and in the years to come. Your twenties are a formative decade in your life – you are asserting your independence and beginning your adulthood. Be a responsible adult – be responsible for your health. Your skin will look better, your hair will be shinier, your nails won’t be yellow anymore, you’ll stop yellowing your teeth, and you won’t have ashtray breath. Plus, you’ll save a heap of cash (smoking cigarettes is like burning piles of money) and you won’t have to wake up with a disgusting hacking cough every morning. If you don’t want to tackle quitting “cold turkey,” consider a smoking cessation aid, such as nicotine gum, a nicotine patch, a nicotine inhaler, or a prescription medication.

HEALTHY EATING HABITS

Like it or not, you can’t survive on fast food alone. Burgers and deep fried foods may taste good, but they aren’t going to do anything good for your health. Many twenty-something men skip breakfast as well, and instead of drinking water, their only beverage choices are soda and beer. Lots of men in their late teens and early twenties in particular are binge drinkers. Binge drinking is a dangerous behavior, and while so many young men see it as a fun part of young adulthood, it isn’t a good idea for your health in the present or in the future. Your liver cannot handle the stress of excessive alcohol consumption, particularly the excessive consumption of hard liquors. In your twenties, you should establish a lifestyle that includes a complete and balanced diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables should be staples of your diet – shoot for four servings of veggies daily and three to four servings of fruit a day. Incorporate whole grains and healthy lean proteins in your diet, and make sure that you eat foods that are rich in fiber.

SEXUAL RESPONSIBILITY

Safe sex is something that men in their twenties need to take very seriously. If you are sexually active, then it is your sole responsibility to make sure that you use protection each and every time you engage in sexual activity. Condoms can save your life, and they can also protect against pregnancy. Some men say that they just don’t enjoy sex with a condom on, but that’s just not a good enough excuse to put your life on the line. It may take a little time to get used to wearing a condom every time you have sex, but it is a sacrifice that is most certainly worth making, and you will get used to it.

GET PHYSICAL

Exercise is a key ingredient to good health. Don’t be a couch potato. Your daily exercise cannot consist exclusively of walking back and forth from the refrigerator. Make exercise part of your life. You should exercise for at least one hour a day, three to five days a week. Make sure that your exercise regimen consists of both cardiovascular and strength-training activities. You can truly slow down the aging process by incorporating exercise into your lifestyle in this important decade that is your twenties.
