Solutions for over-plucked eyebrows

Tips, solutions and techniques for over-plucked eyebrows, including ways to make them grow back fuller and faster.

Unfortunately, there is no magical fix for over-plucked eyebrows. Some magazines may tout formulas that make eyebrows sprout immediately, but the formulas are expensive, full of chemicals, and may not work at all. Eyebrows will not grow back overnight, so it is important to use caution and proper techniques when plucking eyebrows. If you have over-plucked your eyebrows, follow these instructions in order to regain the normal shape of your eyebrows as soon as possible.

The biggest factor in this equation is time. Although waiting for eyebrows to fully grow back can seem to take forever, it is truly the best method to use. Sometimes eyebrows grow back unevenly, and this can lead to the temptation to pluck stray hairs, but don’t! Wait at least two to three weeks, if not more, before you even think about picking up the tweezers again. By then, most of the hairs should have grown back in fully or partially, and you will be able to shape them accordingly. While waiting for your brows to grow back, make sure that you wash your face at least twice a day, especially at night. Washing will eliminate bacterium that might clog your pores or hair follicles, causing blemishes and ingrown hairs. You should also keep your face well moisturized.

While waiting for your eyebrows to grow back in, you should take caution to eat properly. Poor nutrition can lead to slower growing hair, or even hair loss. Make sure that you are getting plenty of nutrients in your diet. It may seem odd, but it can make a difference!

To eliminate the look of over-plucked eyebrows, consider purchasing an eyebrow pencil. Most drugstores carry a variety of eyebrow pencils in several shades. Choose a pencil shade that is slightly lighter than your own eyebrow color. You may also want to get an eye pencil that matches your own eyebrow color if you have severely over-plucked eyebrows.

You will use these pencils to fill in the bare spots on your eyebrows. If you have plucked more eyebrows than still remain on your brow line, start with the eyebrow pencil that matches your hair shade. Using short, gentle strokes, begin to fill in the bare areas with the pencil. Start with light strokes; you can always go back to make the strokes darker, but using dark strokes to begin with can make the eyebrows appear painted on. When you have created a shape that matches your ideal eyebrow shape, go back over the strokes with the lighter shade of eyebrow pencil. You may also want to use this lighter color around the edges of your eyebrows, so that the lines do not appear as harsh.

Some companies now market products that are created specifically to help individuals draw on eyebrows. If you feel that your eyebrows are over-plucked enough to warrant this purchase, feel free to do so, but keep in mind that these products are only a temporary fix, and must be used daily to maintain a consistent look. The best way to fix over-plucked eyebrows is to patiently wait for the brows to come back, and in the mean time, use eyebrow pencils to fill in bare areas.
