Wedding bouquets and flowers: pink flower ideas

List of the types of pink flowers and greenery for bridal bouquets and what the flowers mean. Learn what different styles of bouquets are available for spring, summer and winter weddings.

Pink is one of the most popular colors for any bouquet and bridal flowers are no exception. Not only can a pink bouquet be the stunning final accessory to your wedding ensemble, it can also be prepared to represent a message that is special to you and your partner.

Roses are the perennial favorite of brides and a bridal bouquet in various shades of pink is always a classic choice. Pink roses generally represent grace, perfect happiness, and thankfulness. Light Pink roses represent admiration while deep pink roses represent gratitude and appreciation and there are also many varieties of roses that combine shades of pink and white.

There are literally hundreds of choices for pink roses for a bridal bouquet, from the Bridal pink Floribunda to the York and Lancaster which provides pink and white stripes, to the Diana, Princess of Wales Rose, which commemorates the ever popular Princess. It is a Hybrid Tea Rose which is primarily cream in color with a delicate pink blush center. Choosing this variety is also a socially conscious choice since 10% percent of its net sales will be given to The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund in support of the causes that the late royal cherished. There are pink and white blends, pink roses with white centers and vice versa, as well as flowers with pink and white edges. A pink-oriented bride can always choose a variegated pink rose bouquet that combines several varieties of pink roses arranged by shades or by size.

If the pink-oriented bride is partial to carnations, she should know that pink geraniums mean “I’ll never forget you” while pink camellias signify “longing for you.” A spring bride who opts for a wildflower bouquet, may also consider dogwood blossoms, tinged with pink which signify “Love undiminished by adversity”, orange blossoms, which signify marriage and phlox which represents “our souls are united”.

Greenery too can be used to accentuate the season, the message or the overall display. Pine branches, which signify hope, are good choice for winter weddings. Fern, a choice for all seasons also is a delicate and attractive choice which represents fascination, sincerity, magic and the secret bond of love. Ivy, which is especially attractive in a cascading bouquet, is also a perennial choice and represents wedded love, fidelity, friendship and affection. Whatever greenery is chosen, the bouquet can be complemented by a few sprigs of stephanotis, delicate tiny white blossoms which signify “happiness in marriage,” instead of the traditional baby’s breath.

Along with the various styles of flowers a bride can choose, she may also want to coordinate the style of her bouquet with her gown. An ever-popular choice is the cascade bouquet. It is shaped like a waterfall, and begins with a full array of flowers flowing downward. The shape tapers at the bottom with a vine or blossom suspended by its own stem or on a ribbon. This is the most traditional shape for bridal bouquets, used with a full-skirted or elaborate ball-gown-style wedding dress.

A round cluster bouquet appears just as it sounds with a full display of flowers with a ruff of lace or tulle collar or a traditional bouquet holder. It can be made of one type of flower or combination of different flowers or of the same type of flower in different colors. A favorite is a tight round cluster or roses, or roses and peonies, with a few other flowers and greenery.

A loosely tied bouquet is the simplest and often extremely elegant choice. This is made up of a variety of flowers chosen to go with the gown and wedding style. They are arranged as if just picked from the garden and are tied with ribbon, tulle or lace.

Finally, a presentation bouquet resembles the type of arrangement carried by beauty pageant contestants. This is also an elegant choice and can vary in simplicity based on the taste of the bride but should match the length of the bride’s arm so that it may be carried comfortably.

The choice of a pink bouquet presents a world of opportunities for the creative bride to express her aesthetic tastes, a personal statement or message that her wedding represents, or a perfect palette against which to display the radiance of her beauty and her gown on her wedding day.
