When you get married it is a very special occasion and you want everyone to remember it fondly, especially the mother of the bride or groom. You really want to give your mother or his mother something special from the wedding. I have come up with some great crafty ideas that are beautiful and great keep sakes.

1. Frame the vows:

Get an inexpensive picture frame, you can usually find these at your local everything store. Get some gold foil and apply it to the frame via instructions on the package. Get a copy of the vows that were used in the wedding and put them on a beautiful piece of paper, at the bottom add the names of the bride and groom and the wedding date. Get some lace and cut it to fit around the edges of the vows and trim the whole thing to fit in the frame. This will make any mother proud.

2. Roses (cloth)

Here is a great idea for after the wedding. You can make cloth roses from the bride’s veil. To do this you have to take a strip of material approx 3 inches wide and a foot and a half long. Fold the material in half, start in the middle and start turning around till you get what looks like a rose bud. You might have to practice several times but you will eventually get it. When you have the bud as large as you want it; cut it and tuck the edges inside. Put a stem in the middle of the rose (at least half way up the middle of the rose) and then with florist tape start tape the bottom of the rose (approx a half inch from the bottom) down the stem. You can attach leaves to the rose where you want them. Attach a tag to the rose with the names of the bride and groom and the date of the wedding. This is small enough for a shelf or can be added to any other memorabilia from the wedding. You can even make a small bouquet that can displayed.

3. Satin Pillow:

Get a beautiful piece of satin in one of the colors of the wedding; this can include white if you choose. Embroider the names of the bride and groom along with the wedding date in the middle. Make this cloth into a beautiful pillow. This doesn’t have to be a large pillow just a small one that can be place on a shelf. You can also embroider two gold rings linking together or you can get inexpensive ones and attach them to the pillow.

4. Make an album:

Put together an album of great memories for your mother. Start with pictures of you as a child and add them as time passes. Put in all of the special events that have happened in your life and write how you mom was an inspiration. Leave a place for wedding pictures; these should include a photo of you and your mother and then one of the three of you together. You can even leave a place for the future grandchild.

5. Handkerchief:

Get a beautiful cotton cloth and make a handkerchief out of it. All you need to do for this project is to take a beautiful cloth (approx 10 inches by 10 inches for a nice large handkerchief) and some very fine lace (I would have the lace be at least an inch wide.) Attach the lace around the cloth very carefully. Fold the handkerchief and on one corner you can hand stitch the names of the bride and groom and the date of the wedding.
