Liposuction means your fatty tissues are injected with saline fluids, and what that does is reduce the size of the blood vessels. It shrinks the blood vessels. So it also lifts the fat just under the surface of the skin. So the doctor goes in and he scopes very gently with the tiny cannulas and removes just the fat leaving the blood vessels untouched in most cases. Liposuction and breast augmentation are by far the most requested procedure. We do liposuction from the breast down to the ankle; front, side, and back. We do liposuction on the back. We do liposuction on the arms and under the chest. Everywhere expect for the real bony areas. We don't do liposuction on the face.
Some people want liposuction on fat cheeks, but we are not going to do liposuction on the face. It's not good idea. When you get older you will be sorry. We need all the fat. When you get older, you need all the fat in the face. Lots of people pay a lot of money to have a lot of fat put back on their faces when they get older. I always say that there is discomfort for about 2-3 weeks with liposuction. You can have bruising and swelling for 3-6 weeks, but everyday it does get better. The pain is going to become less and less. Everyone has different responses; painful to me might be discomfort to you. So I try not to discourage them. If they really want to get rid of their thunder thighs, if they really want to get rid of their big breasts, I encourage them to come in and get with the doctor and to get the facts that liposuction is one of the best things you can do for yourself if you have those big areas in your body that are really annoying you; that makes it hard to buy clothes; that makes you feel a little inadequate when you walk into a sales meeting. That's the way it was with me. I wanted to get rid of those big thighs because I have always been a professional business person, but I couldn't wear a suit. Well, it was just wonderful for me professionally to be able to change to more professional attire after liposuction. I will tell them there is discomfort, but we do give you pain management medications. And before you know it, you are going to look back and it is going to be a distant memory.
