Step 1
Have your hormone levels tested. If you are suffering from a hormonal imbalance, your doctor can prescribe medications to help you regulate it. You may need estrogen supplements which can counteract your overabundance of testosterone. As a result, your libido will be lowered.
-
Step 2
Distract yourself. When you feel an urge for sex, engage in an activity that requires mental concentration. This will shift your focus from sexual desire. If you do this repeatedly, it can have a lowering effect on your libido.
-
Step 3
Know that anti-depressants and birth control pills can lower your libido. If you are currently on either medication, consider switching to a different type that may be able to effectively lower your libido. Talk to your doctor about your concerns prior to switching medications. There are serious consequences to some anti-depressants so you should make sure it's worth the personal risk before considering this option.

Step 4
Consume soy products. Soy contains phytoestrogen, a plant derivative of estrogen. Phytoestrogen replicates estrogen, in that it can also decrease the libido. You can find soy in a variety of products, such as tofu, edamame, soy nut butter, and soy milk.

Step 5
Gain weight. As you gain weight, your body will produce more estrogen, thereby lowering your libido. In addition, people generally have lower sex drives if they do not exercise. While you shouldn't remove exercise from your life altogether, cutting back on it somewhat can lower your libido.

Step 6
Try black licorice supplements. This all-natural remedy is known to lower one's sex drive. Generally, a 300-gram supplement is recommended daily. As with any supplement, talk to your doctor before you begin taking it.
