It depends on what time of the year you are coming. Fall is an excellent time to be here because the wildlife comes out. We have a big migration of elks that come into the elk refuge, about 7000 heads. The leaves are spectacular. The colors are so diverse and brilliant during the fall season. I would come during the probably the second and third week of September or the beginning of October. And we have a festival called the Forest Festival that is a 10-day event and is absolutely spectacular. The air is crisp but it is not cold and there's still a lot of people fly fishing, hiking and biking. The park closes the end of October and there will be no access into the park until they reopen it the first of May, although you can go in by snow coach and see a lot of wildlife, the bison and the buffalo, bear, elk, and deer. It's just a beautiful time to be viewing wildlife, not to mention the different birds that migrate here including huge migrations of swans into this area.
The major summer attraction is going into Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Park. The scenery is so breathtaking, you never get tired of waking up in the morning here because it's so beautiful. With the multiple rivers and lakes the parks offer boating, fishing, hiking, and biking. There are also over 20 miles of bike trails through town. I think we have one of the largest biking systems in a mountain region. We have a great system; you can bike all the way into the Grand Teton National Park on a bike trail.
We have the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the only one in the country, which is beautiful. It is made out of solid rock and sits up on a hill. It has the most diverse collection of wildlife art in the country. A lot of famous artists and photographers photos and sculptures are there.
Inside Jackson Hole you can go to all the boutiques. There is a historical walking tour of the history of the trappers and the mountain men and the ranchers. We have a really rich history.
