We have some world class attractions like the Oregon Coast Aquarium and the Hatfield Science Center. It tends to be an area people can come and have a great time as a visitor, but also go away and feel like they've learned something about either the coastal ecology or about coastal animals or just about the coast itself.

You can reach the Chamber of Commerce by calling 1-800-COAST-44 (1-800-262-7844). We have a great website, www.newportchamber.org, and on that website folks can find information about lodging and restaurants and information about the community in general and a list of our members. The city of Newport also hosts a very informative website at www.discovernewport.com and that one actually has some great photographs. There's a wealth of resources where you can find information for where to stay and things that you might want to do while you're here.

Hatfield Marine Science Center is part of the Oregon's State University and houses a number of national marine organizations that are doing research throughout the world. They have a public wing that features things that are being studied there in the center. They've had exhibits about tsunamis, earthquakes, and other things that affect the coastal geography.

We have an attraction on the bay front that's actually three different attractions adjacent to each other. One is Ripley's Believe It or Not and next to that is the Wax Works Museum. They feature various famous characters in television and movies. The third leg is Undersea Gardens where essentially folks walk down into a large room that is actually below the surface of the water and you can see what's happening around you in the bay. They have diver who comes down and does a show periodically and talks about the various types of animal life that are there in the bay.

For nightlife we have several local restaurants that have live entertainment and we are only half an hour from the casino in Lincoln City.
