How to Make Address Labels

By Erica Sweeney

  • Overview

Making your own address labels is inexpensive and can be done easily using Microsoft Word 2007. Word allows you to print and design all types of labels for any purpose.
    • Step 1

Buy sheets of blank labels from an office supply store. There are all kinds of address labels and they come in many different sizes, so choose the ones that work best for your needs.
    • Step 2

Open Microsoft Office 2007 on your computer.

    • Step 3

Click on "Mailings" on the top toolbar to view the mail functions.
    • Step 4

Click on "Labels" in the "Create" box.
    • Step 5

Click on the "Labels" tab in the box that appears.
    • Step 6

Click on "Options" to select the type of labels that you want to print. In the "Label Information" section, choose the "Label Vendor." This is the company that manufactures the labels that you purchased. In the "Product Number" section, choose the number of the labels that you purchased. The manufacturer and product number can be found on the packaging of the purchased labels. Many labels also come with an instruction sheet detailing such information. Click "OK."
    • Step 7

Click in the circle next to "Full page of the same label" if you want to print a whole sheet of labels with the same address. If this is what you want to do and you do not want to reformat the text on the labels, this is the best option to choose. Type in the address that you want to print on the sheet of labels. Put the labels in the printer and click "Print."
    • Step 8

Click "New Document" if you want to print several different addresses on a single sheet of labels, or if you want to reformat the text of the full page of labels with the same address. This is also the easiest way to just print one label. After clicking "New Document," a sample sheet of labels will appear. If you have already entered an address in the "Labels" box, that address will appear in every cell. If you want to enter different addresses, simply type in the addresses in each cell on the label page.
    • Step 9

Reformat the text by simply highlighting and adjusting the font accordingly.
    • Step 10

Insert the labels into the printer and print.
