How to Make a Business Card for Free

By Larry Parr

  • Overview

If you use a newer PC computer which has Microsoft Office, then you can make a wide range of business cards for free. All you have to do is to know where to go and to be able to follow a few simple online instructions. You can buy pre-perforated (micro-perforated) business card paper at your local stationary store, or you could even print your cards on plain or colored card stock (available at larger stationary stores) and cut them yourself to save even more.
    • Step 1

Start your computer and click on the Windows logo in the extreme lower left of your screen. A box will pop up.
    • Step 2

Click on "All Programs." The words should appear near the bottom of the pop-up box.

    • Step 3

Scroll through the options that appear until you find "Microsoft Office." Left click on it. A new list of options will appear under the words "Microsoft Office."
    • Step 4

Find "Microsoft Office Publisher" and left click on it. A window will open with several option in it. One of those options will be "Business Cards." Left click on "Business Cards."
    • Step 5

Choose from among approximately 50 designs of business cards or choose a blank card and create your own card from scratch. Type in your information to replace the "place-holder" information on the card template that you've chosen. You will be able to change type styles, type size, color and center just as you would when using Microsoft Word. Options that appear on the left of your screen also allow you to easily change colors and fonts.
    • Step 6

Click on the word "File" in the upper left corner of your screen once you have finished creating your card and then click on "Save." Click on the word "File" again and then click on "Print Preview." An image of your business card as it will be printed will pop up. If everything looks all right, then click on "Close" to close the print preview.
    • Step 7

Load your paper into your printer. Click on the word "File" once again. Click on "Print." Your cards should print. Separate your perforated business cards or cut your sheet of cards into the proper size.
    • Skill: Moderately Easy
    • Ingredients:
    • PC computer with Microsoft Office Publisher
    • Pre-perforated business card stock
    • Tip: When buying your business card stock choose the color that you wish for your cards.
