How to Make Business Cards for Free Online

By Andrew Smith

  • Overview

A standard business card will have both your personal contact information as well as your job title listed on the card. You can order these cards from most stores that sell office supplies. Depending on how many cards you want, though, purchasing them can get expensive. There are online resources you can use, however, to make your own business cards for free and then print them at home. By using these sites, you can create, edit and print as many business cards as you need.
  • Using the DeGraeve Business Card Generator

    • Step 1

Log onto the Business Card Generator portion of the DeGraeve website (see Resources below).
  • Step 2

Find an image to use for your business card. The easiest way to do this is to click the "good source" link found to the right of the "URL of Logo Image" text box. Once you do, you will see a wide variety of different types of clip art. Select a category to find different images. When you find one you like, drag that image to your browser's toolbar. This will open another browser for that image. Copy the URL for that image and paste it in the "URL of Logo Image" box. All images used on the DeGraeve Business Card Generator must be either in GIF, JPG or PNG format.
  • Step 3

Choose the font and text alignment for your business cards by clicking the dropdown box next to each option.
  • Step 4

Enter the information for your business cards in the 10 available text boxes listed on the page. You will see a sample card that has a name, job title, company title and contact information. You do not have to follow this format for your business cards.
  • Step 5

Change the font for each option by clicking the drop down box next to each text box. In the first box, you can choose whether the font is plain, bold, italic or bold italic. Use the second box to choose the size of the font for that line. You can select either large, medium or small.
  • Step 6

Leave a check mark in the "Show Grid Lines" box for now. This will be helpful for previewing your business cards. You can go back and remove the check mark from the box when you're ready to print out your cards.
  • Step 7

Click the "Make Business Cards!" tab to preview your cards. Go back in your browser to make any changes. When you're ready, remove the check mark from the box and click the "Make Business Cards!" tab again to print your business cards.

  • Using Business Card Land

    • Step 1

Go to the Business Card Land site (see Resources below).
    • Step 2

Click the "Create Business Cards" link on the left side of the page.
    • Step 3

Select a design for your business card on the next page. You can choose from one of eight different designs. Click on the card to select that design.
    • Step 4

Click either the "Full Bleed" or "No Bleed" print option. Full Bleed will print eight cards per page while No Bleed will print ten cards per page.
    • Step 5

Select the size of your business card. Click either the "Standard American" or "Standard International" box. Once you do this, your card template will begin to load.
    • Step 6

Enter the information to be printed on your business card. Click the box next to an option (such as "name") and you will be able to type in the text box next to that option. Do this for every option that you want to include. You can choose to leave as many options blank as you want.
    • Step 7

Click the "Apply Information" tab and you will able to preview your business card.
    • Step 8

Change the colors of the text and background of your card by clicking the "Pick Colors" tab located beneath the business card on the webpage.
    • Step 9

Click the "Make PDF/Print" tab when you're finishing making your business card. From there, select how to print out your business cards. You can choose to print either 8 or 10 cards per page (depending on what you chose in Step 4) or print only one card on a page. When you've made your selection, click the "Create PDF" tab. Your business cards will appear in a new browser. From there, you can print out your cards.
