How to Make Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

    Chocolate dipped strawberries are a delicious snack or dessert for chocolate lovers of all ages, and you only need a few ingredients to make these gourmet treats. Whether you want to treat your sweetheart with this chocolate indulgence or just enjoy this classic treat yourself, here's what you need to do to make a tasty batch of chocolate dipped strawberries.
    • Step 1

      Prepare the baking sheet by covering it completely with wax paper, then set it aside.
    • Step 2

      Wash the strawberries under cool water without removing the stem and leaves. Dry them by wrapping them in a kitchen paper towel, and set them aside.

    • Step 3

      Prepare the chocolate. Place each type of chocolate and two tablespoons of butter into separate microwaveable bowls, and set them in the microwave. Heat the chocolate and butter for 30 seconds at medium temperature, mix them with a spoon to check if the chips have melted and continue heating them at 10-15 second intervals until the chocolate is completely smooth.
    • Step 4

      Begin the dipping process. Hold each strawberry at the stem and slowly dip it into your preferred type of chocolate. Raise the strawberry above the bowl to allow the excess chocolate to drip, then place the strawberry onto the wax paper.

      Continue the dipping process and cool. Dip as many strawberries as you can into the chocolate and let them set on the wax paper to dry. Transfer the filled baking sheet to the refrigerator to let them set for at least 20 to 30 minutes so that the chocolate can harden.

    • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 6 ounces dark chocolate chips
    • 4 tablespoons butter
    • 1 pint of fresh strawberries
    • 1 large baking sheet
    • Wax paper
    • Kitchen paper towel
    • Microwaveable bowl
    • Metal spoon
    • Tip: You don't need to hull the strawberries or cut them in any way; chocolate dipped strawberries are meant to be eaten whole.
    • Tip: Add a few tablespoons of heavy cream or half and half to the chocolate for a richer texture
    • Tip: Use white chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter chips or mint chips as a variation on the classic recipe
    • Warning:
    • Don't overheat the chocolate; make sure you mix the chocolate frequently during the heating process to prevent it from melting
    • Don't mix burned chocolate with regular chips; once it is burnt, chocolate cannot be salvaged.
    • Make sure all strawberries are ripe and are not covered in mold or bruises
