How to Make a Conference Call on Yahoo Messenger

    Yahoo Messenger is a web-based instant messaging service developed by Yahoo! The program allows users to make free PC-to-PC conference calls between Messenger users. The program features conference calling, which enables users to hold conference calls between two or more participants for an unlimited amount of time. The program works on both personal computers and Macintosh Apple products.
    • Step 1

      Click "Start" and select "All Programs." Double-click "Yahoo Messenger" to open the program.
    • Step 2

      Click "Actions" and click on "Invite to a Conference ... " from the pull-down menu.


    • Step 3

      Highlight the names of the conference call participants in the left-hand box titled Messenger List by clicking on each name separately. Click "Add" to move that name into the Invitation List box on the right-hand side of the page. If the person's name is not in the Messenger List box, click "Invite Other..." and type in the person's Messenger ID. Click "OK."
    • Step 4

      Type in a message regarding the conference call in the Join My Voice Conference box. Check the Enable Voice for this conference box. Click "Invite."
    • Step 5

      Click the green "Talk" button and speak as you would when using the telephone once all of the participants have accepted the call invitation. Check the Hands Free box if you are using a headset.
    • Step 6

      Click the "End" button when the conference call is completed.

    • Tip: All conference call participants must have Yahoo Messenger and a Messenger ID to use the conference call feature. Conference participants also need computer speakers and a microphone or a headset.
    • Tip: Conference participants can send private SMS to other callers during the call or activate the webcam feature to view select participants.
